Brandpunt in de markt

“An optimistic program. It lifts the gray veil hanging over the country’s gloomy state. The ratings are soaring through the roof.”

When the Netherlands seemed to be in a deep economic depression in the mid-1980s, we tried with the studio program Brandpunt in de Markt to shine some light at the end of the tunnel.

A cheerful, optimistic, and substantive program that focused on groundbreaking innovations and economic opportunities.

Each month, a gray veil was lifted. Against doom and gloom, we presented resilience, creativity, and optimism. Alongside, among others, Ad Langebent, Ton Verlind, and Joost Middelhoff, I—being the youngest presenter—noticed the enormous impact of this approach: the ratings soared through the roof.
