Biography
"In his younger years, he aspired to become a poet or writer. Encouraged by, among others, Stan Hollaardt, his Dutch teacher in high school. 'I used to scribble adolescent poetry all over my bedroom walls,' he once said. 'I was a dreamer, even at school. When I started working for a local newspaper at the age of 18, I knew: this is my calling. Journalism.'"
